As many of you know, Sadie and I got involved in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Moms in Training program last year at the urging of my friend Robbi. She knew that I was looking for a way to connect with neighborhood moms and that I wanted to get back into shape now that my daughter was 20 months old. Unbeknownst to both of us, that gentle push really changed my life. Although I feel that I may have joined for personal or even shallow reasons, I am now a lifer.
When I took part in the June 8th 10K event, it really was inspirational. A sea of women, running in purple, with one unified goal-to fight cancer. As I ran shoulder to shoulder with survivors, children, spouses and parents of survivors and those running in memory of someone they had lost, I felt deeply emotional.
I ran for my friend Kate. As a teen, Kate was teated for a blood cancer and is one of the lucky ones to survive. She is a strong, vibrant woman and we are lucky to have her in our life. Running in honor was amazing.
I believe that with my help, LLS’s Moms in Training program can raise the funds that they need to help find cures for cancer. As I listened to each mission moment, some of tragic heartbreak and others of miraculous recovery, I realized that I want to do something. I want to create a world for Sadie where cancer is just a memory. One survivor who spoke at our dinner said that she knew that we could find a cure in her lifetime. How amazing! I still love Moms in Training for the camaraderie and the work out boost. However, I am committed to this program because I believe that I can be part of something incredible. I can bring awareness to others and help raise critical funds. I have the lofty goal of raising $5000.
Please join me in this fight. Any donation, no matter how small can fund research and bring about a cure. Visit my fundraising page:

Mom & Cameron – Training Together for a Cure!
Dear Friends & Family,
10 months ago, Stormy and I welcomed a healthy baby boy into our lives. I know too well through my eleven years with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society just how lucky I am. As a parent, I can now better understand the heart break that comes along with having to watch a child cope with an illness. So, I can only imagine the terror of hearing the words leukemia or cancer come out of a doctor’s mouth.
Cameron and I have the opportunity to make a difference, and for this reason, we’ve laced up our sneakers (well, maybe just me :) and will be training together for the Women’s 10K this June. In fact, I’ve inspired 25 other moms & babies to train and fundraise with us as part of TNT’s Moms In Training – our first ever moms & babies team!
Thank you for your generous support in helping us reach our $10,000 goal!
